FARMINGTON, MO (KDKZ-TV) A St. Francois County jury has found a local bar owner not guilty of assault in an incident from 2015.

Matthew Grisham was charged with assault in the first degree in February of 2016, after a patron told police they were struck several times by Grisham at his Farmington bar on Nov. 13, 2015.

Grisham claims that he did not assault the man, but had tackled him as the patron was getting ready to assault an employee.

Grisham told police that he accidently struck the patron in the face during the altercation. During the altercation, police say that the patron became unconscious and ended up having a facial fracture.

Grisham was freed from the charge on Monday.
