POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KDKZ-TV) Poplar Bluff Police were recently contacted by the Department of Homeland Security, St. Louis Field Division and the U.S. Marshal Task Force out of Illinois regarding a wanted fugitive in the Poplar Bluff area.
23-year-old Carlos Montez Pawnell Jr., formerly of Poplar Bluff, was wanted for Rape of a Child in Knoxville, Tennessee. Pawnell was suspected of raping a 4 and 10-year-old relative and an arrest warrant for Pawnell had been issued. Through the course of investigation, it was determined Pawnell was in the Poplar Bluff area.
The Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Marshal’s Service and the Poplar Bluff Police Department coordinated together, exchanged incoming intelligence and conducted surveillance which ultimately led to the arrest of Pawnell within the city limits of Poplar Bluff.
Last Friday, August 24th, 2018, at approximately 10:55 AM, Pawnell was apprehended in the 500 block of Victor Street in Poplar Bluff by members of the Poplar Bluff Police Department, U.S. Marshal’s Service and the Department of Homeland Security without incident.
